What to expect after a root canal

It is normal to feel some tenderness in the area, such as; chewing sensitivity or jaw soreness over the next few days as your body undergoes the natural healing process. Please keep in mind, this is just temporary and by the 4th day after treatment most symptoms should dissipate. We have given you 3 more doses of the ibuprofen and Tylenol combination, please take them as instructed. You will take 2 ibuprofen and 1 Tylenol every 6 hours. This combination dosages works on the brain pathway and the site to help with tenderness after your treatment.

If you have been prescribed an antibiotic or a narcotic, please finish your antibiotic as directed. You may take the narcotic as needed if the combination does not work.

You have a temporary filling in place, it takes 1 full hour to set, please do not have chewy or sticky things until you see your dentist. A proper final restoration of the tooth is extremely important in ensuring long-term success. Please contact your dentist within two weeks to arrange your next appointment. We will be sending a report with x-rays to the office.
